day 1, upon reaching the changi airport, i was waiting for the gucci to be open, they open from 6am to 12am, the items were not alot, therefore the sale items too. i didn't really get to see the bags that i like and i was thinking, that's no much of a difference bcos is just a 7% tax. i always thought my flight was 7.50am in the morning, but i think it was actually 7.10am. since i was there early, i had my breakfast after checking in, got the window seat. there were many people, i think the flight is actually full. the O' brien wrap was hmmm.. the ham and cheddar, wasn't very good. it came with chips, and i ate it almost all up, which i wasn't suppose to, esp having the sore throat etc. upon reaching BKK (it was raining), i went out to get a cab, it cost about $320 (including the 65baht toll fee & svc charge + tips) to get to the hotel. i got the cab from outside the airport, not at the airport counters itself, that explain the savings. the hotel i stayed in was a lil hard to find, but manage to find it. the room was small, but cosy. i like the lighting, the aircon bcos i can adjust to the way i like it to be. the hotel (grand watergate) was located in pratunam market, it is dangerous walking alone at night esp, bcos dark alleys and sometimes you may get to see people peeing along the stretch. i experience once, when i had to go out to get dinner bcos the hotel stop the rm service at 8pm (BKK time). I decided to drop my bags off and walked along pratunam, and then manage to walk to the 4 face buddha at central. i manage to get some cheap stuff along the way, like clothes at pratunam market, it cost 20baht cheaper than platinum mall. so after walking to big c and had my lunch there, i went to central etc, and back to pratunam. thinking its still early, i decided to walk the 1st and 2nd level of platinum mall, i went to patnip plaza as well to see my wii game but unfortunately, they don't have. so got some tops from platinum mall, whole sale. so my late lunch at black canyon, i had pad thai, the famous local noodle and their hot latte (all cost less than 150 baht). when it comes to night, i decided to pay a visit to silom, where patpong is, after i walk and realise.. i manage to get my wii game there ( for 150 baht, they quoted me 2400baht). i walked and walked, and got lost, and it was getting dark, there are many japs, jap restaurant in one of the street i walked in, i was terrified of cos, hoping and praying nothing will happen, and i manage to find my way back and had my dinner at 1 of the coffee shop. food isn't that cheap, i had fried rice this time, and a coke. and i took a cab to go back to the hotel to rest for another day tommorrow. 2nd day, i went for breakfast, seriously i was shock to see so little variety, but what can you expect for what you're paying? so i had their sunny sideup, rice, sausages and a piece of toast butter bread, and of cos 2 cups of hot tea. that settle it, alot? actually compared to last time, it was considered little already. set off later as my sis arrive in BKK, this time, i am not alone. i went to platinum mall to walk all the levels, bought many stuff and in the end, i'm like left with 3000 baht, after spending half of my fortune there. gosh. many bags, clothes and stuff, their fashion is like big, flare type of clothing so it fits me well, most of them. bought some dresses too. so we had crepe, late lunch again, noodles, rice etc at the mall food court. you've to buy cards, and we have to make sure is the exact amount, so that we don't pay extra or have excess money. some shops in platnium mall start to pack up around 6pm, so of cos we got to hurry through our shopping. at night, we went to suan lum, surprisingly the place haven't close down, though there are not as many shops left compare to 2 years ago. we had dinner there, i had tom yum fried rice, the rice had curry leaves, basil leaves that make it tast horrible, even though there is strong tom yum taste. and some duck neck, noodle soup, etc etc. we went shopping about, and i bought t-shirt from there. is about 200baht. 3rd day, i set off early to visit chatchuchak, gosh that place is hot, but it never fail to make me keep coming back. as it is a weekend market, it only open on sat and sun. we walked along the streets, but what did i get there beside pet stuff? some clothes, aromatherapy burner (i've got 2 for 200baht), a dress etc. and went to the restaurant to have our lunch, as usual the same old spot we went each year in chatchuchak., but food menu seems limited. after shopping, i went back early to the hotel since they have plans to go to banyan tree 'moon bar' and patpong, which both i visited before, i decided to stay in to watch HBO instead. so that's when i have to walk out to get dinner bcos of the rm service. i had spaghetti meatball and bread in dips from the pizza company. well, they do FREE delivery, if i know, i wouldn't have walked out myself and get myself sweaty after bath. that night, there is ocean 13, i watched and dooze off after feeling that the movie is quite slow. CMI! 4th day, i went over to pratunam market again to walk, and buy some ointment for my family. manage to get it cheap after walking many places. well, an advice to you is get those ointment from pratunam market, chinese drug store, they are always cheaper but of cos do some shopping around 1st. again, we went to BIG C, to buy some potato chips, lays.. they do have the brand here in sin, but not the flavours. and bought some sweets, gums etc. evening, we went to siam square to get our levis jeans, the same thing, i got patty anne, over an over again. i think i got 3-4 pairs of that particular jeans. then off to MBK Tokyu to buy some undergarments. ohh.. we shop like mad, and i bankrupted myself over there. so decided to do some signing instead. after that, we walked to the restaurant that serve thai food and thai music, they waited 30mins for the table. and bcos i was sick throughout the whole trip, i didn't get to eat my fav tom yum kung. but i manage to get it there anyway with the fish cake. my fav!! and their thai milk tea. they do have bubble tea there, and is like 20baht, but i didn't wanna try. i've been drinking like latte bcos they say coffee can help to lose some weight!! :P at last, the final day. i went to bobae market, bcos we don't know where to go, and it was kinda boring place, although it only cost like 50 baht from our hotel to go there. we went to bobae tower, and chance upon 1 shop that sells t-shirt, okay, i got like 4 t-shirts from there. the owner is a taiwanese, he was from kaoshiung, and set up his own factory and shop here like 4 months? its whole sale, so was pretty cheap, the cheapest t-shirt i ever buy and they come in sizes like m, l, free size. many colors and designs. so is worth to visit. esp for guys who like unique tees. they do ship out to sin, taiwan, hk, china etc. after that, we went back to the hotel to do some packing up, seriously, we have a lot to do. bought a real big runaway bag even i brought 1 from sin. and our luggage, sure exceed the limit. lol.. went to mbk to do some tibits shopping there and spend our last dollars there and had some kfc before we leave BKK. then is time to say goodbye to BKK and off to the airport. the underwears that we bought, forgot to claim for VAT, bcos we came in without having the seal stamp, so that goes my 340baht. i manage to get myself a gold gucci wallet there. looks small, but classic and it can store coins, and 6 card compartment, cost me almost 1/3 of my pay. i'm officially poor again. you have no idea how much time i spend on blogging this down. |
